How to ease the pain of Teething

Some baby’s are born with teeth, thank goodness none of mine were otherwise I would have opted not to breastfeed.

The first thing I notice when my kids started to teeth was their little cheeks turning rosy and they started to chew and slobber on everything. Some of the side effect of teething include: low grade fever, diaper rash, diarrhea, running nose, not sleeping, ear infections, mouthing everything they get their hands on and slobbering.

  • Use Tylenol to help with pain and fever
  • Teething ring: I like using the fresh food teething feeder. I will put an ice-cube, popsicle or even frozen peas inside to help alleviate the pain and give them something rewarding to chew on.
  • Numbing medicine. I haven’t had great luck with these but when baby doesn’t feel good its worth trying anything.

5 Signs Your Baby May Have an Ear Infection

Ear infection

These are horrible and usually if your baby gets one of these they will probably get lots of these. My suggestion if they have more than two in a few months you may want to consider getting tubes. My daughter suffered with ear infections for the first year of life and we finally got tubes when she was almost two. The procedure took 15 minutes and she was a little uncomfortable for a day but she slept through the night for the first time within a week of this procedure. We didn’t wait a long with our son, he got tubes by the time he turned 6 months and it made everyone much happier.

Your baby may have an ear infection if:

  • Baby is cranky every time you lay them down. This is because the fluid puts pressure on their inner ear and is very painful.
  • Baby is running a fever.
  • Baby is pulling on their ears.
  • Baby doesn’t want to drink or breastfeed
  • Mothers intuition - You know your baby better than anyone. If you feel your baby isn’t feel well call the doctor.
